Mon modèle, mon inspiration
In the sport of speedskating I really admire Shawnie Davis, Erben Venemaars for their commitment and accomplishments. They each have incredible work ethics and are great people on and off the ice. Personally I admire my Mom Kim, she set a great example for my brother and I...she doesn't believe in the word can't. She's taught us that hard work and passion will help us accomplish our dreams both on and off the ice, and that success is made up of 10% talent and 90% heart. She and my step Dad Ron continue to be amazing support for me while I pursue my dream.
Autres renseignements me concernant qui pourraient intéresser les médias
I began speedskating when Hall of Famer and former Olympian speedskater Kevin Scott's coach, Art Jennings found me at a skating rink hanging out with friends in Sault Ste. Marie. I spent the first three years training with my Coach in the Sault Ian Overman in long track in Sault Ste. Marie only having ice three weeks of the year, but I was really passionate about speedskating. In 2005 my family moved to Ottawa in part so that I could train more seriously, unfortunately long track ice was pretty much non existent due to weather. I worked hard to not let the lack of long track ice get in my way though..I was really serious about being a better skater. With the help of some great skaters and coaches I surpassed my personal skating goals by skating some short track for the first time with Gloucester Concordes. I raced my first Canada Cup last year and made the times I needed to train with the High Performance Team at the Olympic Oval. I moved to Calgary in August 2006 to pursue my speedskating dreams and finish high school at the National Sports High school. I am hoping to skate for Canada in the 2014 Olympics (but wouldn't mind having a try at the 2010 Olympics as well....you never know...) I'm a kid who is living his dream....
