My goals for the 2007 Canada Winter Games
My number one goal for the Canada Winter Games is to have fun and enjoy the experience of this kind of competition. I would like to be able to show my home town what I do everyday and show them why I love to do and skate my best; go out there and be able to stay focused.
One of my personal goals is to apply what I've been working towards with my sports psychologist: slower in my jumps, positive frame of mind, mental prep, etc...
My personal role model
I don't really have a personal role model because I don't want to be LIKE anyone, I want to be me. There are, however, people who influence me in my life, help me not give up and keep on telling me to think positive. My youth group friends have a great impact on me in this as well as my wonderful staff at work at the Midnight Sun at the multiplex. And how could I forget my family who has supported me all these years in my journey to this, something that I love to do.
Other information that could be of interest to the media
I'm a grade 11 student at both Vanier Catholic Secondary and Ecole Emilie Tremblay. I have been going to school in the mornings and training in the afternoons along with some extra skating sessions before school and attending the gym a couple times per week. I go on several skating trips throughout the year to Vancouver and its regions and with that I also go to Summer skating school every year either to Saskatoon or Vancouver. With all this training I manage to find enough time to fit in my social schedule which involves getting together with the Riverdale Baptist Youth Group a few times a week - bible study, Stance (our youth band), and youth group. Without my social life I am an unhappy person, I depend on telling my friends when I have problems and they help me go through them. Hanging out is what I do when I have the chance in between homework and training and work. I work at the Midnight Sun at the Canada Games Centre and have been an employee there for over a year so far and love it. It's a great job and you get to meet so many people.
I'm a people person, a proud christian, I love my family even though I'm barely home to see them but that's just how it works out.
